Privacy notice.
What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it — in plain English.
Who we are
Obital. is the trading name of Matthew O’Brien, a sole trader. Matthew O’Brien trading as Obital. is the controller of the personal information described here, and “we” and “us” on this page mean Obital. You can contact us about privacy at matt@mobbit.co.uk.
What we collect
When you use the Start a project form we collect:
- your name, business name and email address, and your phone number and website if you give them;
- the answers you give about your business, what you need, your timing and (optionally) your budget;
- basic technical information sent with the form: the page that referred you, campaign tags in the link you followed, and your browser’s user-agent string.
Your name, business name, email address, the kind of business, what you need, a short description of the problem and rough timing are required, because we can’t reply properly without them. Everything else on the form is optional.
The public website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you sign in to Obital. Studio, we use essential cookies to keep you signed in.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss a possible project — our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.
- To deliver and manage a project if we work together — performance of our contract.
- To keep records we are legally required to keep — legal obligation.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for marketing without your consent.
Where it’s stored
Enquiries and project information are stored in our customer management system, which is hosted by Supabase. This website is hosted by Vercel. Both process information on our behalf as service providers, under their data processing terms. Their infrastructure may be located outside the UK; where personal information is transferred outside the UK, those terms provide for recognised safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to respond and to follow up a possible project, and we periodically delete old enquiries that haven’t led to work. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time. If we work together, we keep project records for as long as needed for the project and for our legal and accounting obligations.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use. Where we use your information to take steps towards a contract with you, or to carry one out, you can also ask for a copy in a format you can take elsewhere (data portability). Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, and we’ll stop. Contact us at matt@mobbit.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
